Paddle the Grand Canyon Join Colorado River & Trail Expeditions for an 11-day paddling adventure down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. Space is still available on their July 28-Aug. 7, 2012, expedition. Get in on the action, as you help paddle a 16-foot raft through some of the most amazing rapids on the Colorado River. For people who prefer DOING to VIEWING, this is the ultimate rafting experience! For those who would rather not paddle full-time, there will also be a support raft available where participants can take a break and simply enjoy the ride. The river trip starts at historic Lees Ferry, Arizona, and concludes 190 miles downriver at Whitmore Wash. Participants meet in Las Vegas and travel from there to Lees Ferry by motor coach. The river trip ends with a short helicopter ride from the river to a ranch on the north rim of the canyon. Participants transfer to a twin engine chartered airplane for a scenic flight back to Las Vegas. The price of $3500 per-person includes the round-trip transportation from Las Vegas, all camping equipment (sleeping bags, foam pads, tents), delicious meals, non-alcoholic beverages, Coast Guard approved life preservers, and an experienced crew of licensed guides. Hybrid trips that combine paddle rafts and oar-powered rafts (rowed by guides) are also available (Aug. 15-25, Sept. 8-16, 2012).
